How to work out the cost per day of your supplements?
At Equimins, we’re all about quality products and value for money…two attributes that our customers really value. With this is mind, we wanted to share with you a tip that will allow you to fairly compare the cost of the supplements on the shelves…and that’s by working out the cost per day. So, how do you do it?
It’s easy…you will need…
The cost of the tub or bottle
The size of the tub or bottle
The amount of the supplement you’d need to add to your horse’s feed each day
Let’s take the example of our Laminator Powder…
Cost per tub: £26.25
Size of tub: 1.2kg
Amount of supplement suggested per day 25g
First of all, work out how long the tub will last by dividing the size of the tub 1200 (1.2kg) by 25 (amount per day). The total is 48. So the tub will last 48 days when fed at this level.
Now, to work out the cost per day, divide the cost of the tub (£26.25) by the amount of days the tub should last (48) and you get 0.55, meaning it’ll cost you 55p per day to feed the supplement.
It’s as simple as that! In addition to looking at the cost per day, it’s also important to look at and compare the levels of important ingredients in the supplement.
