What do you use…Jay Ward?

This month’s ‘what do you use?’ comes from Equimins customer Jay Ward. Jay’s based in Devon and regularly posts great pictures and tips on our Facebook page…here’s a bit more about her…

“I run a small yard offering show production and schooling near Kingsbridge in South Devon. My association with Equimins started in the early 1980s when my parents used to buy all our horse feeds from David and we have used Equimins products since David first started making them. The first product we used was biotin based, bought to help my first show hack, a little bay mare, who had rubbish feet. Since then we have used a lot of the products, Equimins being our ‘go to’ brand when looking for any specific supplements.

Currently we use Tip Top, Advance Concentrate Complete, Linseed Oil, Turmeric, Cider Apple Vinegar, Cooked Linseed and Magnesium in our feed room. We have nine horses and ponies on the yard ranging from my daughter’s Shetland to a 17hh hunter, and they all have varying needs and are fed as individuals. I believe in feeding a forage based diet as much as possible and using Advance Concentrate Complete feed balancer IMG_6737083928089complements that. I also find horses we have had sent to us in the past with a history of tummy problems or problems maintaining condition thrive on Advance and other products.

We also use and recommend the grooming range. The Medicated Animal Shampoo brings the coats up clean and grease free, whilst the Blue Shampoo is great for getting socks white, and the Plaiting Liquid and other sprays are great for finishing touches. We also find that the Fly Spray is one of the most effective on the market.

We have enjoyed a good season this year with horses winning and placing every outing. Our Welsh cob stallion, Midnight Flyer, has taken 10 championships in 12 outings and the youngsters have done well. I look forward to next season with several nice young horses to get out for owners as well as campaigning Flyer again in 2015.”

Big thanks to Jay for sending us this great blog and lovely pictures – we wish you all the best for 2015 and can’t wait to see your progress.
