Keep calm and use Serenity!
This month we’ve been thinking about stress and anxiety…but not the horse’s, we’ve been thinking about the rider.
We know what it’s like. You have a horse that’s a little…how can we put it…lively, and you, as a rider, are concerned. The concern might not stop you climbing aboard, but it’s there and that can make what should be a fun, relaxing experience much less enjoyable than it should be. Unfortunately, the bad news doesn’t end there as horses really can pick up on our emotions. Think about it- you can tell if someone is stressed or nervous by looking at them- their stance changes, their muscles are tense, breathing changes too- in fact, people can hold their breath when they get very stressed…horses can feel all these things.
Now for the good news- there are lots of things you can do to help reduce your anxiety. It might be worth getting additional instruction to help you cope with your horse’s ‘quirks’. If it’s a training issue, your horse might benefit from being ridden by someone else for re-schooling, as you go and ride another horse to help you hone your technique. You could look at supplements to help calm your horse, like our Serenity Ultra Calm +, and you can also look at products to help you stay calm, like our Serenity Riders range.
We have two great products under the Serenity Riders banner- a calming capsule and a liquid…let’s start with the capsule first…
Serenity Riders Chill Out Calmer Capsules help to induce calmness without lethargy using high specification magnesium, B vitamins and two important herbal compounds. Each tub contains 100 capsules and should be taken two hours before riding for best results.
Serenity Riders Calming Fluid can be used alone or with the Calmer Capsules and helps to counter tension using an aromatic liquid. It can be rubbed onto the neck, forehead, hands and wrists as and when needed. It’s supplied in pocket size 50ml and 250ml bottles.
