The colder weather can cause horses to lose a little condition, but there are plenty of ways to add calories to your horse’s bucket feed without changing your entire feed! Here are five great ways to boost calories…

  1. Cooked Linseed – this handy supplement is a rich source of omega 3 and omega 6 oils. It’s micronised to make it easy for the horse to digest, and up to 140g can be added toCooked Linseed his feed each day. It’s an alternative to feeding and oil for those who prefer.
  2. Glow & Shine Supplement – combining micronised linseed with calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, fenugreek, lysine and seaweed, this is a handy winter supplement that helps to keep condition and helps the horse to thrive.
  3. Glow & Shine Omega Oil – combines three different types of oil in one easy to use product. The oil has good levels of omega 3, 6 and 9 and is made using a blend of soya, linseed and rapeseed oils. Horses can receive up to 40ml per day.
  4. Linseed Oil – this cold pressed oil not only helps to boost condition and add calories, it can also be used to help support the digestive system. Horses can receive up to 80ml per day (horses weighing between 450kg-600kg) as needed.
